High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Recognising potential and developing talent

Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

Tailored lessons

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Rich opportunities and activities

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom
At our school, we are committed to ensuring every High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) student is challenged, supported and engaged in their learning. In every classroom, teachers differentiate instruction to cater for students with advanced abilities, providing enrichment, higher-order thinking tasks and personalised learning opportunities. In addition to classroom differentiation, we run targeted extension groups in mathematics, literacy and other key learning areas to further extend students who demonstrate high potential. These programs allow our HPGE students to deepen their understanding, explore complex concepts and reach their full potential in a supportive, stimulating learning environment.
Across our school
Across our school, we provide a rich range of programs and extracurricular opportunities designed to extend and engage our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) students beyond the classroom. Students can participate in interschool competitions, spelling bees, talent showcases, debating workshops and a variety of dance and STEM clubs that nurture creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving. We also offer sports activities, cultural groups and music programs that allow students with high potential to explore their talents in diverse and meaningful ways. These whole-school initiatives ensure our HPGE students are continually challenged, inspired and supported to excel across academic, creative, social and physical domains.
Across NSW
Across New South Wales, our school actively participates in a wide range of programs designed to extend and celebrate High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) students. Our students take part in major state initiatives such as the School Spectacular, statewide sporting competitions, the Premier’s Debating Challenge, the Premier’s Spelling Bee and the Premier’s Reading Challenge. We also engage in a variety of other NSW competitions that allow students to showcase their talents, challenge themselves and connect with like-minded peers from across the state. These opportunities provide meaningful enrichment and ensure our HPGE students are supported to excel on a broader platform beyond the school community.
