Our principal and staff

Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.

Welcome from our principal

Welcome to Gulgong Public School. We are proud to be a warm and supportive school where every child is known, valued and encouraged to do their best. Our teachers use strong and consistent practices across all classrooms including Explicit Teaching Strategies, Visible Learning, clear Learning Goals, Success Criteria, regular Feedback, Self-assessment and Quality Teaching Rounds. These approaches help every student understand their learning and feel confident in their progress.

We are very proud of the strong academic results achieved by our students. Several of our learners placed within the top five per cent nationally and many showed significant growth in Reading and Mathematics. These results demonstrate the impact of high expectations, quality teaching and student effort and show that continuous improvement is part of our culture at Gulgong Public School.

We offer a rich and balanced educational program. Students take part in a wide range of sports such as touch football, soccer, cricket and netball alongside opportunities in choir, chess, public speaking and the local Eisteddfod. These experiences help students build confidence, teamwork and personal expression.

Our students shine not only in the classroom but across many areas of school life. Each year they achieve success in academic competitions, win sporting championships, excel in public speaking and perform strongly in Eisteddfod events. Their achievements reflect their talent, hard work and the strong support of our dedicated staff.

STEM is a key strength at our school. Students explore coding, robotics, artificial intelligence and digital media. Our video podcast program Radio GPS gives students the chance to interview well-known Australians and share their work on our YouTube channel. These projects support creativity, communication and real-world problem-solving.

We also have strong early-years connections. Our Tiny Steps group runs every Friday from 10–11 am in the school library. All families with children who have not yet started school are welcome to enjoy a morning of craft, play, dancing and percussion. Our Little Steps to Big School transition program helps preschool children move confidently into Kindergarten.

We value genuine partnerships with families. Parent Learning Walks allow families to see learning in action and our amazing P&C supports school events, fundraising and community involvement.

Thank you for visiting our website. We invite you to explore more about our school, a place where children feel safe, supported and inspired to succeed."
